This page highlights my efforts to support individuals experiencing poverty and reflects my commitment to ensuring that people in need have access to clothing. It demonstrates the meaningful impact I aim to create through my role in the fashion industry.

From a young age, a strong desire to help others in need has guided my actions, including volunteering at soup kitchens and donation drives with my family. In the future, I plan to continue supporting communities by donating my own clothing and designs to individuals who need them most.

Cradles to Crayons

Cradles to Crayons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential clothing to children in need. Their warehouse is stocked with donated garments that are carefully inspected to ensure high quality, free of stains or damage. Items that do not meet these standards are sent to textile recycling, reflecting the organization’s strong commitment to sustainability. Although their primary focus is children, the warehouse also includes a limited selection of adult clothing for families requiring additional support.

Role and Responsibilities

Assembled coordinated clothing bundles for girls sized 2T
Selected four shirts, two pairs of pants, one sweatshirt, and a dress or skirt per bundle
Ensured garments could be mixed and matched into multiple cohesive outfits

Collaboration and Skills

Worked closely with one other student, requiring strong communication and teamwork
Maintained organization and efficiency within limited time constraints
Applied styling principles to create practical and visually cohesive combinations

Reflection

This volunteer experience strengthened my commitment to supporting individuals in need through the fashion industry. Working with Cradles to Crayons provided valuable insight into the impact that clothing can have on confidence and everyday life. I appreciated the opportunity to apply my styling skills to help children feel excited about their outfits and prepared for school. This experience reaffirmed my passion for service, and I look forward to volunteering again in the future.
