Veiled By Cha Cha: Design Internship
During this internship, I had the opportunity to work with bridal veil designer Antonietta in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. My responsibilities included assisting in the design and creation of veils by hand-sewing appliqués and contributing to the overall design process. This experience allowed me to further discover myself as a designer and strengthen my skills in working with appliqués beyond traditional garment construction. Additionally, I supported the brand’s social media presence by modeling gowns and developing promotional content ideas. I also managed the stock room and organized merchandise.

Design Process
In the first six weeks, I sewed appliqués onto veils using invisible thread; later had the opportunity to independently design and complete a veil from start to finish.
Step 1:
Firstly, prepare the veil for construction by measuring the length and width of the veil. Then, cut and arrange the appliques according to a design you desire. Then, mirroring appliqués for symmetry, and documenting layouts through photographs to guide final design execution.

Step 2:
Next, the design is transferred onto the veil and pinned in place. A running stitch of 1/8-inch stitches is then sewn around each applique until the design is fully secured.

Final Product:
Finished by steaming the veil, photographing the final design, and preparing it for sale or the bride to be.
Flower Veil- Hand-sewn by me and a partner.
Lace veil- Hand-sewn entirely by me.

Final Review
During my time at Veiled by Cha Cha, I developed strong skills in time management, organization, professionalism, and attention to detail. I gained hands-on experience designing and constructing veils, engaging with clients, and contributing to social media content. Working in the bridal industry expanded my understanding of fashion and inspired me to explore new areas within the field. This experience strengthened my efficiency and precision, teaching me the value of detail-oriented work; something I strive to bring into all of my designs.
